5 Encouraging Christian Weight Loss Quotes to Inspire You

These encouraging weight loss quotes will motivation you keep going with your weight loss journey as you keep God at the center of your efforts.

Weight loss isn’t easy, but we know with God all things are possible. On the days when it seems difficult (or even impossible) to lose weight, remember that you aren’t doing this on your own. You have the Holy Spirit inside you to guide and direct you for each step you take.

Christian Weight Loss Motivation Quotes to Encourage You

Use these quotes to inspire you to keep going as you lose weight by the power of God at work inside you.

1. We repeat what we don’t repair.

We repeat what we don’t repair.

For many of us, past trauma, hurt and wounds have led us to overeat emotionally.

We repeat what we don't repair.

Even if you haven’t had a trauma past, being overweight brings its own hurt and pain. God can heal these hurts as we allow him to work in our lives, but it requires willingness. Ask God to heal your hurting heart.

We repeat what we don't repair.

Using food to soothe our emotions can become a deeply ingrained pattern of behavior, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be changed. As someone who is now living life 100 pounds lighter, I’m proof that it’s possible.

2. The one who falls and gets up is so much stronger than the one who never fell.

The one who falls and gets up is so much stronger than the one who never fell.

For much of my life I allowed my past failures to define me, especially when it came to my weight. Sure, I had lost weight before (often as much as 40-50 pounds) but I always gained it back. Over and over I repeated this cycle until it felt impossible to break out of it.

The one who falls and gets up is so much stronger than the one who never falls.

Now I see each of those past “failures” differently. I see that God was teaching me something with each situation. I learned new strategies that work for me. I tried new recipes and discovered I really liked vegetables that I didn’t eat growing up. I found out that tracking helps me stay accountable.

The one who falls and gets up is so much stronger than the one who never falls.

Yes, I regained weight many times before I lost weight the final time, but I kept trying.

The one who falls and gets up is so much stronger than the one who never falls.

Don’t quit. God has big plans for you.

3. Just because you think it, doesn’t make it true.

Just because you think it, doesn’t make it true.

For much of my life, I allowed my thoughts to run whever they would go. I figured my thoughts were just my thoughts and there was no way to control them.

Just because you think it doesn't make it true.

Now I see that wasn’t a Biblical approach to weight loss. The Bible says we are to take our thoughts captive to obey Christ. When I’m tempted to say “who cares, it’s just one more Oreo,” I ask myself how I’ll feel later if I keep eating past full. When I feel like beating myself up because I got off my food plan, I ask myself if that’s God’s voice or the enemy’s voice.

Just because you think it doesn't make it true.

Don’t assume that every thought you believe is true. Instead, look for the truth of God’s word to guide you.

4. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.

I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.

Phillippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.

This verse from Philippians is one of my favorites for all areas of life, and it’s especially important when it comes to weight loss. You might feel like quitting. You might feel like a failure. You might feel like losing weight is impossible.

I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.

Be encouraged that God says Christ will give you strength. You can do ALL things, including getting to your goal weight. You can do this.

5. If hunger is not the problem, then food is not the solution.

If hunger is not the problem, then food is not the solution.

I lived much of my life buying into the lie that food was the solution to most any problem I had.

Had a stressful day? Sit down in front of the TV with a huge bowl of popcorn to relax.

Celebrating? Order the biggest most tempting meal at the restaurant…plus dessert.

Kids driving me crazy? Head to the kitchen for a snack.

Feeling an afternoon slump? Sugar and caffeine will keep me going. (And who doesn’t need a bit of an afternoon pick me up?)

If hunger is not the problem, then food is not the solution.

Now I see I was using food in ways God never intended. Yes, food is meant for our pleasure. Enjoying a meal with family and friends is absolutely okay. Yet turning to food to heal every hurt and soothe every emotion isn’t what God intended.

Put food in it’s place and you’ll discover God waiting to heal your hurt, and you’ll find yourself successful with weight loss.
