Use these Bible verses on being yourself to see what God’s Word says about your uniqueness, worth, identity, confidence, and purpose in Christ.
We live in a world that tells us who we are expected to be. From T.V. commercials, the magazines in the checkout line at the store, our social media feeds, and more, we are inundated with the perception of what the perfect woman looks like. It’s exhausting, discouraging, and impossible to attain.
The good news is that it doesn’t matter what the world says. We may be in the world, but we are not of it. We are daughters of the Most High King, and it’s what He says that matters. And boy, does God have a lot to say about us!
What Does the Bible Say About Being Yourself?
The first thing we see, starting in Genesis 1:27, is that we are created in the very image of God. That alone sets us apart from anything else He created. We are made special, unique, and fashioned in the shadow and likeness of the Creator Himself.
Then, as we turn the pages of the Bible, we begin to discover so much more. We find how much we are loved—so much so that God sent His only Son to die for our sins and redeem us from eternal death.
We learn that God delights in us. He saw us and knew us when we were still hidden in our mother’s womb, before anyone else even knew we existed. And we see that God thinks about us all the time and even knows how many hairs we have on our heads!
We find that God has created us with a purpose. Not only has He given us gifts to be used for His glory, He has fashioned us to be the temple in which His Holy Spirit resides! He loves us so much. He wants to indwell our very person. Wow!
God’s Word reassures us that we don’t have to do this in our own strength; in fact, we can’t. Apart from Christ, we are weak and powerless. Our good works are meaningless without Him.
But that’s okay because we have Him to lean upon in times of weakness. Lord, not our strength, but Yours.
Finally, we see that we are not to compare ourselves to others. Our comparison should only ever be to Jesus Himself, keeping our eyes fixed on Him and becoming more like Him.
Dear friend, in this world, you will have troubles.
You will feel devalued, unloved, and insufficient. You will go through times when you question your worth and feel like you don’t really matter. I know because I’ve been there too.
It’s in those times, especially, that you need to fix your eyes on Jesus and read the words He wrote to you. It’s in those moments that you need to remind yourself of what God says about you and who you are in Him.

Bible Verses About Being Yourself
Bible Verses On Your Identity and Unshakable Worth In Christ
Through these Bible verses, we discover just how unique we are. Out of all God’s creation, He chose to create us… you… in His very image.
But He didn’t stop there. Because He loved us so much, He sent His only Son to die on the cross for our sins.
When we accept that sacrifice, we are given the right to become children of God. The act of accepting salvation through Jesus’ death and resurrection makes us new creations. Gone are the old things, and we are made new in Him.
You are chosen by God. Before the foundations of the world, God knew you, He loved you, and He wanted you.

Bible Verses On God Creating You On Purpose and For A Greater Purpose
These verses explain that we have a much higher calling than we often think we do. Everything we do in life, even “just” dishes or laundry, has an eternal impact on God’s Kingdom.
As daughters of God, He tells us we are chosen, that we’ve been given gifts to serve Him with, that we are temples of the Holy Spirit, and we are Servants of Christ.
He reminds us that we are created to bring Him glory, and He has gifted us for that very purpose. God states that we’ve been bought with a price and are no longer our own, but His.
When you wonder if you matter or if any of this is worth it, remember that God knows the plans He has for you—plans to give you hope and a purpose.
11. 1 Peter 4:10 – To God Be The Glory
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.”
1 Peter 4:10
12. Jeremiah 29:11 – God’s Plans For You
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Bible Verses On Embracing Your Strengths and Weaknesses Without Shame
Do you ever feel like you just don’t have the strength to make it through the next thing? Maybe it’s a project at work, raising that strong-willed child, or a difficult marriage. It’s easy to feel weak and defeated.
God’s Word reminds us that we are weak and that our strength comes from Him and Him alone. Paul goes so far as to say that he delighted in his weaknesses and in hardships because that was when, through Christ, he was made strong.
The truth is, you don’t have strength on your own. You were never meant to do it apart from God and His strength. Whatever hurdle you are facing, cling to His promises, delight in your own weakness, and embrace His strength.
16. 2 Corinthians 12:10 – Delight in Weakness
“That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
2 Corinthians 12:10
17. Isaiah 41:10 – God Will Be Your Strength
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Isaiah 41:10
18. 2 Corinthians 12:9 – God’s Grace Is Sufficient
“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”
2 Corinthians 12:9
19. Romans 12:2 – Renewing Your Mind
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Romans 12:2
20. Isaiah 40:31 – Renewing Your Strength
“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” – Isaiah 40:31
Bible Verses Encouraging You Not To Compare Yourself With Others
How often do we compare ourselves to others? We tend to see others highlight reels and then compare and contrast them to the “behind-the-scenes” reality that is our life. And that makes us feel envious, empty, and discouraged.
God makes it clear that He doesn’t look at the outward appearance, but at the heart. God desires that we work first on becoming who He wants us to be on the inside and that that beauty will radiate outward.
He wants us to know that something can look great on the outside but be empty and meaningless on the inside.
Remember who you are in Christ. Keep your eyes focused on the prize and the race you’re running. Do all things for His glory, and don’t allow yourself to get sidetracked. Remember, comparison is the thief of joy.
21. 1 Samuel 16:7- God Looks At The Heart
“But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
1 Samuel 16:7
22. 1 Peter 3:3-4 – The Secret To Unfading Beauty
“Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”
1 Peter 3:3-4
23. Philippians 2:3 – Don’t Be Selfish
“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.”
Philippians 2:3
24. Matthew 7:3-5 – Take Care Of Your Sin First
“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”
Matthew 7:3-5
25. Matthew 23:27- Whitewashed Tombs
“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean.”
Matthew 23:27
